What is ambition?

Ambition, a strong desire or determination to achieve something where our energy feels a spark. Something where we put our heart and soul together. It may be a reflection on human nature, their characteristics or their perspectives in life. Individuals that possess this characteristic frequently have greater self-confidence than the general population.

We human tend to follow a different lifestyle than choosing for ambition avoiding personal interests. Only a few follow their ambition whereas most of the people around us choose differently thinking what others will say and demand in profession.

Career ambition

70% of the students in schools of Bangladesh, want to be doctors though they have different interests in career. They choose to follow that same thoughts that others do and think and not opt for where they are good at. Again, comes the major CSE. People are taking this subject for their major because this subject is more famous than other subjects in the career field. They simply avoid the fact that the supply is in an increased number than job demand. 

A person who feels connected to music or dance, simply give up on their dreams because they are afraid of facing bully or they feel anxious of their future for earning less than others. 

there are people who get into politics to earn popularity doing nasty deeds, forgetting their basic ethics. But if they were ambitious of politics, there wouldn't be any corruption in society. 

Family Pressure 

In brown families, parents want their children to fulfill their wishes and choose career according to their decision. Being disheartened, they become people pleaser quitting their ambition. But if they had the ambition in their works, they would put their heart and soul in it, they would enjoy their work, they would love doing what they do. This often leads to long term depression. 

Ambition vary person to person, also is displayed differently. It also subtly impacts your mindset, causing you to strive to do better, sustain your efforts, and think of the future but still be present. Being ambitious also refers to being passionate, being persistent or having visions as we have a clear idea of what we want to do or achieve in life. Until the dream is visualized, it is not valued and remains as dream only.  

When ambition becomes self-motivation, nobody has to tell or remind us to work towards or personal goal, it won't let us procrastinate for hours on social media or waste time idly. This drive will permeate all you do, enabling you to behave with intention and purpose.

Ambition is a desirable skill at work. It will even make the resume stand out by showing that you have a growth mindset. You’re interested in growing and moving up, not just staying where you are. So, struggle between ambition and convention is real in present world and choosing ambition over convention needs guts.
